We all hear this common complaint about kids (and anyone else holding a stupid phone)…
“No one looks UP anymore! Everyone is looking down at their dumb phones.”
On a regular basic, perhaps all of us see humans walking around looking down at their phones but I read a study recently (and I don’t remember where…sorry) that mentioned when we look down, our bodies don’t feel safe.
Looking down changes our breathing because our posture tends to round, affecting how we can take air into our lungs and actually squishes our diaphragms.
But I think most of us realize that looking down comes with a couple of obvious negatives:
Dangerous (crossing the street as an example, looking at your phone while driving)
Missing the best things in life (views, wildlife, sunsets, sunrises, etc.)
Not learning how to be social or communicate with real humanity
It’s an interesting thing to be aware off for sure and it’s a good thing to be mindful of where your gaze is.
Hope you enjoy my little verbal exploration into where our gazes are. I know I’m incredibly mindful of where my eyes and head are these days!
I offer you presence in all things. Thanks for being here…I appreciate you and always remember that our presence IS our biggest present!

My personal philosophy…“I question therefore I am.”
