Being Present with Your Ground Hog Day Patterns

The same patterns, over and over again, get us to the same place.

One of my favorite sayings is…

“If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always gotten.”

In my 67 years on the planet, I can pretty much attest that this is 99.9999% true (you have to give a little bit of leeway for chance and randomness I suppose).

I woke up a couple of days ago thinking about a set of thoughts I have over and over again and how each morning for the past, oh, I don’t know how long, has seemed so, well, repetitive.

…and here I am in the same place, but a little different.

Quick side story: about a year ago, I joined a friend for my first ever ‘magic mushroom’ journey with a small group of other humans in a big wonderful room in Bigfork, Montana. I had no idea what to expect. I have always preferred to have my ‘wits about me’ as my mom used to say so this was a bit of a stretch for me to say YES to.

After a few hours experiencing a very strange senseness (yes, it’s now a word), I came to this conclusion (albeit having the entire group in stitches at my funny outburst of figuring this out):

“Everything is the same, but different.”

That realization set up a new filter through which I look at everything ..especially myself.

What I really got, though, is that it’s the difference aspect of that that makes life so interesting, fascinating and fun.

But I digress…back to the other morning when I noticed the true repetitiveness of a few of my thoughts and behaviors. It really hit me that the movie, Ground Hog Day with Bill Murray, was really just based on how we get into these weird and unsupportive grooves of beingness…how we think, what we believe, what we allow into our lives, what we do each day, what we want and don’t want. You name it, we repeat it. It’s as if that’s what we do…UNLESS we become so aware of it that we use our ability to make conscious choices in all areas of our lives to change those things…hopefully making changes that move us into an area that is more enjoyable, more supportive, healthier, etc.

So today’s exploration (the audio) is just a short invitation to look at your own Ground Hog Day tendencies to find out what may be holding you back from becoming more of who you are at your core because I for one, think that the closer and more often we can get to that place, the happier human beings we become.

And don’t we all want to be happier?

I offer you presence in all things. Thanks for being here…I appreciate you and always remember that our presence IS our biggest present!

Elisabeth…

My personal philosophy…“I question therefore I am.”

If would mean the world to me if you shared my little inquiries. Thank you so much. ❤️
